8 People has died due to a helicopter accdient in Pastaza

Five military personnel and 3 civilians, officials from the Secretary of Risk Management have lost their lives Last morning on April 27 during a humanitarian operation in one of the 27 Ecuadorian republic.

The inclement weather affecting the Ecuadorian Amazon needed to be remedied as soon as possible. Last morning on April 27, a military helicopter was transporting humanitarian aid to the scene of the incident when suspicions arose over the disappearance of the aircraft.

After a search process that the Ministry of Defense launched, the worst news was confirmed. The army aircraft had crashed, but the causes are still unknown. 


"Pastaza is in mourning and we are going to honor their memories, they lost their lives bringing humanitarian aid to the indigenous Waornai communities that needed it most" André Granda, the mayor said. The president of the country, Daniel Noboa has also summed up this and expressed his condolences to those affected, he said the following: “I deeply regret the tragic accident suffered by the military and public servants who were providing humanitarian aid in the Tiwino sector of Pastaza. The crew and passengers fulfilled this heroic mission in favor of Venezuelans.”

According to the rescue team in charge of this operation, the bodies of the deceased will not be able to be extracted from the wreckage of the helicopter until Saturday morning, due to the atmospheric conditions that continue affecting that part of the Ecuadorian Amazonas.
